Job Description :
– The Scrum Master serves as a facilitator for both the Product Owner and the scrum team.
– He or she has no management authority within the team and may never commit to work on the team’s behalf.
– The ScrumMaster is accountable for removing impediments, allowing the team to deliver the product goals and deliverables; effectively acting as a buffer between his/her team and any distracting influences or ‘noise’.
– The Scrum Master acts as both a facilitator and a coach to the team; ensuring the scrum process and any organisation specific guidelines or practices are adhered to.
– The Scrum Master resolve issues through strong problem solving skills.
– This involves root cause analysis, engaging people from multiple teams and disciplines where necessary, stakeholder management and strong communication to get to the root of a problem and ensure the correct priority and resources support is available to the team to resolve the problem
– Facilitating the priorisation of stories and building of a backlog with the product owner
– Working with the Business Design Analyst, Product Owner and the rest of the team to ensure that stories are appropriately elaborated prior to estimation
– Collaborating with other parties such as architecture, governance, DevOps / infrastructure and business teams across the value stream
– Maintaining alignment of the backlog with other dependent teams within Digital Marketplace and the wider business
– Ensuring that all known impediments are cleared prior to the sprint beginning and continuously and actively managed during the sprint itself
– Ensuring that the stories are reviewed by the team and estimated prior to sprinting
– Maintaining a real-time view of all tasks and activities within the governance framework to deliver software into the production environment
– Being the custodian of the epics and stories within the sprint (whilst not necessarily authoring them – this can be done by anyone within the team – normally: Epics – BA / SM, Stories – BA / SM / Lead Dev / QA, Chores / Tasks – anyone within the team)
– Ensuring that issues and impediments are fully communicated as quickly as possible to the right audience to ensure free flow of information and rapid decision-making.
– Helping teams to improve their velocity and efficiency through retrospectives and continuous improvement activities
